The Chamber is responsible for several annual events and works at several ongoing projects. In March the Chamber sponsors the Irish Day Celebration including the Grand Parade and Leprechaun Parade. The Leadership Houston County Class starts in October and continues until the class graduation in May. This program started with the Three Star program and still continues. It helps promote involvement of individuals in the needs of the county; as well as helping to educate the class members on different aspects of our county. The Houston County High School Academic Awards Banquet honors the top 10 students academically and their parents in each of the four upper high school classes. Savings bonds are awarded to all students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades that have a 4.0 average. The speaker for the banquet is role model graduate of HCHS. The Business & Industry Luncheon is an opportunity for local owners to network and hear from our state leaders what is up and coming in our area and statewide. The Christmas Craft Show and Lighting of the Town Christmas Tree, along with the annual ham give away, start off the Christmas season the first Saturday in December.
The Chamber Membership Banquet & Election of Officers in October get things geared up for another productive year of activities. Ongoing the Chamber makes strides at county beautification, promotion of tourism to our area, preservation of our history and founding, and the continual promotion of business & industry within our county. |
